On June 17th PDW presented another action-packed edition of Disclosure, and once again showed it leads the way in the professional wrestling world.
With only six matches announced for the show and many of the top stars being given the week off it seemed for all intents and purposes as though PDW was slowing down but the truth was that they’re still only just getting warmed up. The show was kicked off by PDW General Manager Blake Selters answering the controversy of last week’s scrapping of the tag team championship match, informing the winners of the match, Pete Ebdon and Joshua Payne, that if they wanted to ever call themselves PDW World Tag Team Champions they’d have to do more than just beat two rookies.
Speaking of the Pantheon, last week saw some rather odd situations involving the stable that currently dominate the title scene in PDW, namely that of PDW Prodigy Champion Pete Ebdon attempting to call a cease-fire with those who seemingly hate the Pantheon the most. First he confronted Steve Jason in the back and offered him a shot at any belt that the Pantheon held if he’d call off the war, but Jason refused. Next Ebdon confronted Aurora Snow before her match with Pantheon lackey Jason Stone, and she refused the same offer. It seems that the roster in general want the war with the Pantheon to go ahead. Payne however didn’t seem overly thrilled by his tag team partner’s actions, demanding an explanation later in the show. It seems while the Pantheon may be on the same page and may have the same ending, what happens between now and the ending appears very different in their respective books. Ebdon demanded Payne leave the planning to him, but before long Payne was out in the ring ordering Jason to make his way out. Jason happily obliged, sneak-attacking Payne and then having his paid associates, the Royal Cartel, lay out Jaxx and Stone before an all-out war broke out between the Pantheon and their newest associate, Giovianni Aries, and Jason and the Cartel. Selters ended that dispute however when he promised the two sides every opportunity to rip one another apart before Drake and Catalina Benjamin cleared the ring by dropping Tarantulas on the gathered groups. It seems that the war, however, has only just begun...
Elsewhere and the night of debuts went well for Dante Gleason Poole of the Royal Cartel who picked up a hard-fought victory over Giovianni Aries while Joker defeated The Real Speed to confirm not only his place on the roster but potentially a bright future for PDW’s Clown Prince. Drake and Catalina Benjamin also debuted in tag team action against two more members of the Royal Cartel and left the ring with the victory in the most controversial of circumstances, tricking the Cartel in to getting themselves disqualified. Revenge from last week was in the air when Aurora Snow faced Jason Stone in an ambulance match and got the win after a brutal beating of Stone, who’s now lost three weeks in a row. What does Stone’s future hold?
The King of the Upsets also saw action as Draven, who last week defeated PDW Next Big Thing Champion Inferno, took on Pantheon member and PDW Prodigy Champion Pete Ebdon. Ebdon was able to pull out the victory but the match wasn’t without controversy of its own as it appeared that Christy Matthews had put Ebdon’s foot on the ropes just when Draven was about to score the win. After dealing with Christy however Draven fell victim to Ebdon, who left with his undefeated streak intact and yet another enemy added to the list of those already gunning for Pantheon blood. In the main event Nicholas Jaxx defended the PDW Bloodshed Championship against Troy Trinidad in a Light Tube match that eventually spilled out in to a brawl all around the arena. At one point in the back Jaxx actually set a shirt that he’d wrapped around Trinidad’s head on fire, but the referee was able to douse the flames before any damage was done. It was Jaxx who came out with the win however after two brutal shots to the head of Trinidad, including a 720 Knee Drop off a ladder to score the pin-fall.
The road to Speak No Evil gets shorter this week as PDW once again presents another action-packed Disclosure. Scheduled for matches this week are PDW Platinum Champion Joshua Payne, taking on Royal Cartel member Dante Gleason Poole, and the newest associate of the Pantheon, Giovianni Aries, looking to avenge his loss last week to the Cartel against Tatiana. Inferno looks to get back on the winning way as he takes on Joker and Troy Trinidad will be gunning to put last week behind him in a match with Drake Benjamin. The Cyber title will be defended as Hannah St. John looks to reclaim the belt from the man who stole it from her, The Kingpin. And in the main event the controversial team of Pete Ebdon and Christy Matthews take on Rachel Stevens and Steve Jason in a match with so many implications for the future, especially when you consider the budding friendship between Matthews and Jason.
What else will happen? Will there be more shots fired in the Pantheon’s war with PDW? With Star Deveraux’s return after her absence last week what will she have to say about the events of last week? And what matches will be set for Speak No Evil? Find out on Disclosure, live on Tuesday night from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
